I started my educational journey in 2013 with a business degree at Salt Lake Community College but changed to Criminal Justice where I obtained two degrees, An Associate of Applied Science as well as an Associate of Science.
I started in this degree hoping my education would further propel my career goal of being a domestic violence advocate and a national speaker. I have been involved with the Utah Domestic Violence Coalition, Break the Silence Against Domestic Violence and recently became board president of the National Domestic Violence Collaborative.
My career took a turn back in 2014 when I started working for Bill Gephardt at Gephardt Daily. At that time, I enlisted in a couple of journalism classes while already attending SLCC. After nearly 2 years writing news as a multi-media journalist, I left GD and started working as the assignment editor for ABC4 news as well as a digital producer where I specialized in writing crime stories. I still have a passion for writing crime, but was recently promoted to Managing Editor and I am working hard to fulfill the duties of that role.
I look forward to a day that I get paid enough for my dedication and hard work that I can finally stop working multiple jobs to support myself and my kids. Until then, we do what we have to in order to have a place in the world. A world that works better while understanding how fragile life is, and how to live a happy and fulfilling journey without toxic and abusive behaviors. I value my career as it allows me to make a difference in our community and educate those who need help.
